Baccalaureate 2025: Honoring Graduating Seniors

Allen Park Presbyterian Church invites all graduating high school seniors, their families, city officials, and school staff to join us for a special Baccalaureate Service celebrating the Class of 2025. This non-denominational service honors local public high school seniors, offering a meaningful moment of reflection and recognition before their commencement ceremonies.

• Date: Wednesday, June 4, 2025
• Doors Open: 5:30 PM 
• Service Begins: 6:00 PM
• Location: Allen Park Presbyterian Church, 7101 Park Avenue (between Cleveland & Harrison)
• Parking: Available in two lots and on the street

What to Expect - A short, uplifting service celebrating student achievements, speeches from students, faculty, and community leaders, intermixed with musical performances and worship. Photo opportunities, refreshments, and beverages following the service.

Graduate Instructions - Graduates should arrive at 5:00 PM wearing their cap and gown at our main building located at 7101 Park Avenue (between Garfield and Cleveland) and head to the second-floor gathering area for preparation before the 6:00 PM processional into the sanctuary.  Join us as we honor this incredible milestone and celebrate the bright futures ahead.

Volunteers Needed

​We need your help to make our event on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, a success. There are several volunteer positions available:

• Greeter: Welcome guests at exterior doors.
  • 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm 
  • 4:45 pm - 6:00 pm 
• Usher: Assist in the Narthex and Chancel.
  • 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm 
  • 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm 
• Host: Various locations.
  • Parlor: 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm 
  • Second Floor: 5:00pm - 6:15 pm 
  • Church Office: 5:00pm - 6:15pm 
• Hospitality Team: Assist in serving at the reception and cleaning up.
  • 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm (0 of 4 slots filled)

Sweet Treats Donations Needed

We are seeking donations of self-serving 'finger-food' desserts for our upcoming event. Ideal treats include cookies, brownies, mini-cream puffs, and similar items that do not require plates or utensils. Sign up: Treats

College Scholarship Applications

Are you looking for a college scholarship? The Memorial Committee of the Session of Allen Park Presbyterian Church offers yearly college scholarships. Starting Monday, May 5, applications will be available in the church office. To obtain an application, please email Rita at [email protected] or stop by the office during regular church hours.

• Application Deadline: Monday, June 16, 2025, before 2 p.m. (no exceptions)
• Award:  Scholarships are granted for the school year immediately following date of award. Each receipient is eligible to receive two scholarships.
  
• Eligibility:  A member or employee of Allen Park Presbyterian Church; a child or grandchild of a member of Allen Park Presbyterian Church; or a child or grandchild of an employee of Allen Park Presbyterian Church. Must show proof of acceptance to a college accredited by the North Central Association, a like association or a state accredited technical or business school. 
  
• Application procedure: Complete application. Attach all transcripts. Return to the church before the deadline.
• Notification: Scholarship recipients will be informed by the Memorial Committee by August 1, 2025.
• Eligibility: This opportunity is open to members and affiliates of Allen Park Presbyterian Church who plan to enroll in an accredited college, technical, or business school for the 2025-26 academic year.
