March 2025 Ice Storm Impacts Camp Wakanda
At the end of March 2025, Northern Michigan was struck by a powerful ice storm that left widespread damage throughout the region. Camp Wakanda— a cherished place of rest, retreat, and spiritual renewal—was heavily impacted. While we are deeply grateful that the main buildings were spared from the worst devastation, the Lodge and Dining Hall suffered roof and electrical damage. Across the property, countless fallen branches and downed trees now cover large sections of the grounds, requiring extensive cleanup to restore the camp’s natural beauty.
Although children’s camps could not be held this summer, Camp Wakanda continued to serve the community through private rentals, family gatherings, and quiet weekends of reflection—keeping the spirit of the camp alive even in a season of loss. As we move forward, we invite you to watch for upcoming opportunities to join our restoration efforts. Whether through hands-on service, prayer, or financial support, every contribution helps us prepare Camp Wakanda for future seasons of ministry, joy, and adventure.
