PW Purpose

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves
  • to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
  • to support the mission of the church worldwide,
  • to work for justice and peace,
  • and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.

Join PW

Presbyterian Women (PW) offers women in the church meaningful ways to live out their faith in the midst of a caring community of women. For more than 200 years Presbyterian women’s groups have strengthened the Presbyterian Church and played a major role in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and witnessing to the promise of God’s kingdom. And in 2013, Presbyterian Women celebrated 25 years of praying and working together as “Presbyterian Women,” the organization created within the reunited Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  To learn more about Presbyterian Women: PW Women

History

Women’s groups in the Presbyterian Church have a powerful history. Since the early 1800s Presbyterian women have organized themselves to support mission and combat social injustices nationally and internationally. While the levels of involvement and recognition from the denominations has varied, women’s dedication to living out God’s call through women’s organizations has remained steady. Learn more about the history of PW.

Mission

Birthday Offering and Thank Offering The Birthday and Thank Offerings have supported thousands of mission projects worldwide. The Birthday Offering has primarily funded capital improvement projects, while the Thank Offering has funded smaller, new or expanded projects and small capital improvement projects.

Give to the Presbyterian Women Birthday Offering

Since 1922, the Birthday Offering has provided and continues to provide much-needed financial assistance to numerous worthwhile programs not included in ongoing General Assembly mission support. Each year, as many as five new projects-domestic and international-are carefully and prayerfully selected by the Creative Ministries Offering Committee to help meet a crucial need for persons who are hurting or are disadvantaged. The generosity of Presbyterian women and their families and congregations, as demonstrated through their Birthday Offering gifts, helps chosen recipients find real solutions for projects related to health, education, economic development and the needs of women and children.  Click:  GIVE

Build Community

At the national level, Presbyterian Women offers programming that intentionally builds community with sisters around the world. These programs offer the opportunity for mutual sharing, consideration and building up of one another!

Antiracism
Presbyterian Women has committed itself to eradicating racism and increasing the cultural proficiency of the organization and its members through self-evaluations and racial ethnic dialogue groups.

Churchwide Gathering
This triennial event is an opportunity for Presbyterian women from across the country (and around the world!) to gather for worship, education, community-building, fun and renewal.

Global Exchange
Global Exchange is triennial, relationship-building, fact-finding trip that takes Presbyterian Women to another part of the world to hear the joys and pain of our sisters.

USA Mission Experience
USA Mission Experience is a triennial, fact-finding, relationship-building trip that takes Presbyterian Women to an area of the United States to learn about the region’s history and culture, and the region’s existing church ministries.
