Serving ChristNet...A Ministry of the Deacons

ChristNet at APPC

Overnight Shelter Week: March 15–22, 2026

Watch for “Overnight Shelter at APPC” sign-up coming soon!

We are honored once again to open our doors and hearts as we host overnight guests from ChristNet Services in our Fellowship Building the week of Sunday, March 15 through Sunday, March 22, 2026.

This is a vital ministry of hospitality and compassion — and it takes all of us working together. Throughout the week, we will need:

Ways You Can Serve

  • Meal Hosts: Provide nourishing dinners, dessert, and snacks
  • Hospitality Volunteers: Serve, welcome guests, or stay overnight
  • Supplies: Help create a safe, calm, and comfortable environment

Activities & Fellowship

  • Social: Bingo, board & card games, karaoke, trivia
  • Creative: Cardmaking, crafts, coloring, journaling, quiet games
  • Practical Care: Haircuts, manicures, beard trims
  • Community Building: Movie nights, popcorn, puzzles, birthday celebrations

About ChristNet

ChristNet provides temporary overnight emergency housing and wrap-around support to homeless men, women, and children. Guests receive a safe indoor sleeping space, three meals each day, and support from a case manager who helps connect them with resources to restabilize their lives. ChristNet unites churches and nonprofit partners to serve our brothers and sisters in God’s family.

How volunteering help you!
  1. Empathy and Understanding: Spending time with people from different walks of life can broaden your perspective and foster empathy. It can help you understand the challenges faced by the homeless community on a deeper level.
  2. Gratitude: It can make you more aware of your own privileges and blessings, fostering a sense of gratitude for what you have.
  3. Community Connection: Volunteering can strengthen your ties to the community and make you feel a part of something bigger. It’s a way of giving back and contributing to society.
  4. Personal Growth: The experience can challenge you and help you grow as a person. It can build resilience, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence.
  5. Meaning and Purpose: Helping others can provide a sense of purpose and meaning in life, which can contribute to overall happiness and satisfaction.
Remember, while these benefits are significant, the primary purpose of volunteering should always be to help those in need. Your kindness and compassion can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
